DETROIT (WJBK) -
Arson investigators are searching for clues after a fire sent residents of a Detroit apartment building into the streets early Monday morning.
Residents tell FOX 2's Al Allen the fire started in the stairwell of the five-story building on the 700 block of Whitmore near Woodward and McNichols on the city's west side. "That doesn't sound like a cooking fire or something like that," said Robert Nichols, who lives in the building.
Residents were safely evacuated. No injuries were reported and officials say the building sustained minimal damage.
Smoke detectors were equipped throughout the units, Allen reports.
