DETROIT (WJBK) -

The judge booted a juror Tuesday in the Kwame Kilpatrick corruption trial. Meanwhile, prosecutors spent a fourth day hammering away at hundreds of thousands in state grant money that they say ended up in the pockets of Kilpatrick's friends and family.

Kelly Bartlett said he was surprised by the call he got in 2001 from then-state Representative Kwame Kilpatrick. Kilpatrick was wondering why Bartlett and other state officials were hassling two nonprofits he helped snag $700,000 in state grant money.

Barlett testified Tuesday that officials were just trying to be sure the money was being used properly.

Outside the courthouse, Kilpatrick just laughed at the situation.

Prosecutors continued raising questions about the money, especially the hundreds of thousands of dollars that went to Kilpatrick's wife, Carlita, and Bobby Ferguson's nonprofit.

However, the biggest news Tuesday was the dismissal of a juror.

The rules at the courthouse are very simple. No cameras, no phones, no weapons and now no sleeping.

Judge Nancy Edmunds replaced juror number four after determining "she had some issues being as attentive as she needed to be."

The was one other new development Tuesday. The architect of the SkyTel text message system testified briefly possibly signaling that we will be seeing some text messages from Kilpatrick and Ferguson any day now.
