Tigers to play minor leaguers to stay sharp

DETROIT -- The Tigers have a new strategy for 2012.  During the playoff pause in 2006, they believed the wait made them rusty, so now while waiting to play, Jim Leyland will have the Tigers take on players from their farm club.  A game against the minor leaguers at Comerica Park will happen on Saturday.  The game and all workouts are closed to the public.

At the Comerica Park ticket office, no tickets are available, but the Tigers say they may have seats for sale when the opposing team has fans that can't come to the game.

On StubHub, standing room tickets are starting at $394, while the price for four tickets in Section 331 was $10,000.

Nearly everyone is wearing the Old English D.  Tigers' gear is flying off the shelves.  You can even buy one of the champagne bottles the players sprayed all over each other after sweeping the Yankees for $75.

For $25, you can get the Old English D permanently placed on your arm or anywhere else you like.  The World Series special is going on at Michigan Tattoo on West Warren in Dearborn Heights.
