Female politicians win big in 2012 election nationwide

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Election Night was a big night nationwide for women in politics.
Women will hold a record 19 seats in the United States Senate, including the first openly lesbian senator.
Democrat Elizabeth Warren easily beat incumbent Scott Brown in Massachusetts, winning back the seat once held by Ted Kennedy.
In Missouri, Democrat Claire McCaskill defeated Republican Todd Akin. He was leading the race before making controversial comments about legitimate rape, which derailed his campaign.
In Wisconsin, Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin made history.
She defeated former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson, becoming the first openly gay politician to win election to the U.S. Senate. She also becomes the first woman from Wisconsin to win election to the U.S. Senate.
Baldwin was one of four openly gay members of the U.S. House.
New Hampshire also made history, electing the first-ever all-women congressional delegation - and a female governor.
