Sometimes the Election Day projections are wrong. Republican Kerry Bentivolio was declared the winner of the partial term left by Thaddeus McCotter in the 11th District, but not so fast.
After more votes were counted, it turns out Democrat David Curson is the winner.
He got a congratulatory call Wednesday from Congressman John Dingell, but the victory will only allow Curson to serve in congress until December 31.
"I deal with problems for working families every day, and I know that there's important legislation that's going to be handled in this last session of the 112th Congress," said Curson. "I think that we really need somebody to go there to move the country forward, to move the argument forward, to break the gridlock, and I've been doing that my whole life, so I think I can help that along."
It's not a complete loss for Bentivolio. He won the two-year term for the 11th District and will be sworn into office in January.
