Do
you remember the gory details of
December 29, 2008 when Sheri Sangi was fatally burned at a UCLA
Chemistry lab where she worked as a lab tech?
Per the investigators testimony, Sangi (who was coherent and speaking
following the incident) said that she had accidentally pulled the plunger out of a syringe filled
with flammable chemicals while conducting an experiment.
Sheri Sangi's death was a pure tragedy
but the question the judge will need to answer this week is whether it was a
tragic crime or a tragic accident and whether the accident was caused by the
victim own recklessness or by the defendant.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office filed several criminal
charges for violations of California Labor Code (NOT manslaughter or murder)
against Dr. Harran, a renowned organic chemist.
Sara Azari, criminal defense attorney, who has followed this case
extensively was on Good Day LA discussing with Steve Edwards and legal analyst,
Robin Sax.
