The Atlanta City Council has approved changes to the controversial Park Atlanta system. Officials say the changes to the ParkAtlanta contract will help diminish complaints.
The contract has been controversial since it began a few years ago.
The city had previously taken action to adjust parking enforcement. Several more changes were approved on Monday. Officials say parking tickets cannot be issued in cases of unclear signage or broken meters. Complaints and appeals are to be easily filed online, with the requirement for ParkAtlanta to respond within two days.
The city says a process will be established to address unprofessional behavior by Park Atlanta employees.
The changes had the backing of Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.
