PHOENIX -
Right now, it's just an empty lot on Central. But starting Monday, a vacant piece of land is getting a massive makeover.
Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton was on hand to kick off the project Monday morning.
The hope is to turn the 15 acres into a public space for urban farming, outdoor education, and public art displays.
The lot is on the northeast corner of Central and Indian School Road, where the former Phoenix Indian School and Native American High School used to stand.
The space has been empty since 1990.
