Military family is doubly blessed this Thanksgiving

AHWATUKEE, Ariz. -

As thanksgiving nears, it has a lot of us reflecting, thinking about all of the things we have to be thankful for. And one military family in Ahwatukee is doubly blessed this holiday.

"The feelings that you have, the relief having your son home safe."

Jerry Crutcher and his wife Rose got the ultimate gift this thanksgiving. Their son Damon is home from the army, home from the Middle East for good.

"It's an amazing feeling I can finally breathe there's no stress I'm happy," says Rose Crutcher.

After 7 years in the army, Damon Crutcher was medically discharged, suffering from a traumatic brain injury from a explosive in Iraq.

But his overall experience he wouldn't trade.

"I'm happy I did it, did a lot for me. Helped a lot of people over there and did a lot of things I set out to do," says Damon Crutcher.

Not only is he home for thanksgiving, but so is his best friend, also enlisted in the army. This is the first time the two have seen each other in almost 7 years.

"Absolutely it's good to see him, biggest thing for me, I haven't seen him in years," says Lyndon Kennon.

Lyndon Kennon enlisted in the army, following in his friend's footsteps. Now he's stationed in Alaska with his wife and little boy. He's only here for a couple weeks.

"I'm absolutely happy I joined, there's stuff you get in the military that you can't get outside of it, experiences," says Kennon.

A happy reunion -- just in time for the holidays.
