Hikers found human remains near the Superstition Mountains over the weekend and investigators say this could be a cluse into a 3-year-old missing person case.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's office says the remains were found in a rugged area and about a half mile from where Jesse Capen's Jeep was found and other belongings back in December 2009.
Sheriff's search teams were working to recover the remains on Sunday and they'll be sent to the county medical examiner for identification.
The 35-year-old from Denver went missing while he was searching for the Lost Dutchman gold mine.
In early 2010, Capen's mother, Cynthia, said her son was obsessed with finding the mine. She feared that he was bitten by a rattlesnake or attacked by a bear.
