ATLANTA -

The Monday after Black Friday is traditionally called Cyber Monday in the retail world. That is the busiest online shopping day of the year.

Many will stay well away from the Black Friday crowds in favor of the Cyber Monday deals. More Americans are choosing to buy online this year.

According to IBM, online Black Friday shopping jumped 20.7 percent over last year and even Thanksgiving, online shopping jumped 17.4 percent. Department stores saw a 15 percent increase in online sales so far this year.

The numbers state that more people are using their mobile devices to do their online shopping that they used to do on a desktop or laptop computer. nearly a quarter of the online shoppers used their mobile devices to make their purchases.

The iPad led the way with 10 percent of online shopping done on the Apple device. It's cousin, the iPhone was second with 8.7 percent.

Android devices made a good showing as well with 5.5 percent of all online purchases done from one of those devices.

It is also getting easier to shop using several apps.

The Slice app helps you keep track of your online purchases. It will track the shipping and even push notifications to your mobile devices. It is one of the top rates shopping apps and it is available for Apple and Android devices.

RedLaser will scan bar codes and give you the price as well as similar or the same product in nearby stores. It will set up a price comparison between them. And it helps you find those nearby stores or if you want, it will help you purchase them online. The app is available for Apple, Android and other mobile systems.
