Helicopter Explosion Leaves One Dead, Shrapnel Flying - Los Angeles Local News, Weather, and Traffic

Federal investigators are looking into what caused a deadly helicopter explosion in Corona.

The helicopter landed around 11 p.m. Sunday to refuel at Corona Municipal Airport, An explosion happened during the refueling, killing at least one person. The victim had not been identified.

The explosion reportedly sent shrapnel from the chopper flying, tearing through nearby hangar walls.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration were investigating.
