Getting tickets to this Saturday's SEC Championship is a sore subject for some UGA students. In fact, it has one group signing a petition saying they met the requirements but didn't get any tickets.
You may recognize the group of ten upperclassmen who hold up their "DAWGNATION" signs at every home game. Well, none of them got tickets, and now they want that decision to be reconsidered. Otherwise, you won't see those signs when Alabama takes on Georgia this weekend.
"It's really frustrating because I heard they only gave 16,000 tickets out of 74,000 Dome seats to Georgia fans," said Nathan Korosec, one of the students in the group. "And the students were just kind of pushed on the back burner. We feel like we're the heart and soul of college football."
The students say they were told to apply for tickets, and an unknown number of coeds were given seats by the university. A UGA Athletic Department spokesperson told FOX 5's Julia Reynolds that students qualified for tickets if they had 90 credit hours and had attended every home game this season.
Homecoming King Darien Labeach told FOX 5 he met all of the requirements, but was still denied a seat to the game. Now, he and his friends are signing a petition appealing to the athletic department. The students say they hope their tradition of holding "DAWGNATION" together will continue on Saturday at the Georgia Dome.
