Young Calicoe animal fighting case: Judge to decide on video

DETROIT (WJBK) -- The Michigan Humane Society and Detroit Police raided a home on West Outer Drive after seeing a video where Young Calicoe bragged about animal fighting. They took possession of dogs, chickens, rabbits and pigeons.
Calicoe, whose real name is Toriano Hightower, his friend, Savay Chokbengboun, and his cousin, Cassandra Worthington, are charged with animal fighting and conspiracy.
Humane Society investigator Mark Ramos testified Tuesday he talked to Worthington when they raided the home.
"She asked me if this was because of the video, that she knew this was stupid, it was a dumb idea and she told them not to do it."
Prosecutors and defense attorneys then spent the rest of the hearing arguing over that video. Outside, the normally verbose Detroit battle rapper was quiet when it came to our questions.
The judge now has to rule whether or not that video can be used as evidence, and we've yet to see or hear evidence of actual dog fighting.
"Just because somebody makes a video, that's nothing but advertisement, posturing, things of that nature. There hasn't been a crime committed, and certainly my client wasn't involved in it," said attorney Warren Harris.
However, Young Calicoe and his co-defendants wouldn't have been charged with animal fighting unless prosecutors believed they had evidence against them. Just what that is has yet to be revealed.
