A fast food restaurant at 35th Avenue and Bell Road was severely burned by a massive fire early Wednesday morning.
A Carl's Jr. had flames and smoke shooting out of its roof while firefighters tried to put the fire out. Firefighters tried to go on the offensive against the blaze but eventually had to retreat.
The restaurant was closed but there were some workers inside. No one was hurt in the fire.
"The business was shut down, there was employees of the business doing some work on this and there was no power, but due to the construction there...might have been a factor," said Capt. Jonathan Jacobs with Phoenix Fire Department.
Firefighters are still investigating but say it appears the fire was accidental.
The extent of the damage hasn't been determined yet.
