Driver injured in semi accident that slowed I-94 for hours

DETROIT (WJBK) -- A semi truck accident and subsequent fire slowed motorists on Interstate 94 at Livernois Thursday morning.
Michigan State Police say the driver was traveling westbound after 5 a.m. when he feel asleep at the wheel and crashed into the concrete wall that divides the east and westbound lanes. The force of the impact caused the truck's cab to catch fire while the trailer jackknifed on westbound lanes.
As a result, traffic was blocked for hours as crews worked to clean up the scene.
Police say the driver suffered a broken leg and was taken to a nearby hospital. No other injuries were reported.
