(AP) UPDATE 7:20 a.m.: The lighting runway problem at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank has been repaired.
The following statement was posted on its website:
"Bob Hope Airport is open this morning and the runway lights that were out last night have been repaired. Airlines were able to position aircraft at the airport to start their morning schedule. As always, passengers are advised to check their flight status with the airline they are using."
PREVIOUSLY: Some flights scheduled to depart from Burbank Bob Hope Airport have been canceled after a mechanical failure in the lighting system left a runway dark.
Airport spokeswoman Lucy Burghdorf says the edge lighting system for one of the airport's two runways failed last night and it's still under repair.
All departing flights have been canceled for airlines operated by Skywest, such as United and Delta.
Burghdorf urges travelers with flights scheduled to leave from Burbank to check with their airline before getting to the airport.
Arriving flights have not been affected by the problem, and are landing at the airport's remaining functional runway.
