Sgt. Chris Widmer says Jose Cuevas was initially booked into the Pima County Jail on charges related to armed robberies that occurred last Sunday at a Denny's Restaurant and a Toys-R-Us store.
Detectives ended up filing more charges against Cuevas for a string of robberies at Food City stores and a Circle K convenience store over the past two months.
He's accused of robbing the same Food City store two days apart.
In each robbery, a handgun was brandished. During one robbery, police say the suspect fired a shot through the ceiling of the business.
Police say Cuevas is also facing charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
