Trayvon Martin's parents were at the Renaissance Center in Detroit, on a crusade. Their son was shot and killed in Sanford, Florida in Feb. 2012. Zimmerman is set to stand trial for second degree murder in Martin's death in June of next year. Martin's parents came to Detroit to receive the 8th annual peace and justice award sponsored by Detroit's Central United Methodist Church.

"I'm just honored," said Sybrina Fulton, Martin's mother. "I just want to thank Detroit for the support that they have given for signing the petition, for the prayers, for the Facebook, Twitter. A lot of people are supporting us here and we just want to say thank you."

Martin was shot once. Zimmerman's attorneys will present a case of self defense. They'll point to police pictures of Zimmerman with lacerations to the back of his head and a bleeding nose. But, the prosecution says this was racial profiling, they'll argue Zimmerman was misleading in court when reporting his finances, that he had donations he did not reveal and therefore his testimony can not be trusted.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has appointed a special prosecutor to handle the case. Florida law for second degree murder means Zimmerman can get life in prison if convicted.
