A vigil was held Sunday evening for the one-year anniversary of the tragic death of 7-year-old Jorelys Rivera.
Friends, family, and neighbors gathered at the G. Cecil Pruett Community Center Family YMCA in Canton.
Rivera was reported missing from the River Ridge Apartments in Canton where she lived with her family. Her body was found later in a trash container at the complex.
Ryan Brunn, a 20-year-old maintenance worker at the complex, pled guilty to kidnapping and sexually assaulting the young girl before beating, stabbing and eventually killing her.
Brunn committed suicide inside his jail cell shortly after his sentencing.
