Venice, CA -
Did you know that December 5 marks the 79th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition?
To celebrate, Mar Yvette is out and about at The Townhouse and Del Monte Speakeasy, a historic two-level bar in Venice that was once a real speakeasy during the Prohibition era between 1920 and 1933.
Back in the day, the bar also functioned as a main choke point for liquor smuggling via the now-defunct Abott Kinney Pier, which had a number of connected underground caves and catacombs. Today, the space has been preserved by husband and wife owners Louie and Netty Ryan who have kept many historic elements of the building.
Resident mixologist Brandon Ristaino also stays true to the classic cocktails of years past with a thoroughly modern twist. And don't forget the nightly live entertainment with bands like Dustbowl Revival. It's a truly Boardwalk Empire experience right here in LA.
