2 injured in propane tank explosion in Dawson County

DAWSON COUNTY, Ga. -
Medics airlifted two people to area hospitals after a propane tank explosion at a Dawson County business on Wednesday.
Authorities say the blast happened off of Industrial Parkway. A big rig was delivering about 20 propane tanks when a mishap occurred, according to officials.
"Offloading tanks off the tractor-trailer, one of the bottom tanks actually, they knocked it off, and when it hit the ground, it ruptured," said Deputy Chief Tim Satterfield of Dawson County Emergency Services.
Satterfield says one of the tanks fell off the truck and ruptured the valve, caught fire and exploded.
The two injured workers suffered second- and third-degree burns. Both were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.

A judge has sentenced Michael Parson to the maximum of 35 years in jail for the attempted murder of his wife. On Thursday, Parson was convicted of shooting his wife, Adina, eight times in 2012.
