Fundraiser for family of mother, son killed in fire

A fundraiser is planned for the survivors of a fast-moving house fire in northern New Jersey.

Jeralyn Scibetta, 55, and her son, Daniel, 14, were killed when flames engulfed their Ridgefield home on Nov. 17.

Friends and the community have come together to help the family get back on their feet as they continue to mourn mother and son.

Event organizers are asking for monetary donations, household items and clothing.

The benefit is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 at Dragonfly, 200 Outwater Lane, Carlstadt.

It begins at 4 p.m. and will include food, drinks and entertainment.

A $20 suggested donation can be made at the door.

Scibetta's husband Ben, her older son and his girlfriend were able escape the flames. 

Firefighters from Ridgefield and several other towns battled the blaze for several hours.

Neighbors and firefighters reportedly attempted to save the victims, but the fire spread too quickly. 

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
