Large fire in Orange, NJ

A large fire broke out early Friday morning and quickly spread along Main Street in Orange, New Jersey.

The flames erupted in the basement of a nail salon at 212 Main Street and then spread to a jewelry store on the ground floor at 214 Main Street, said fire officials.

Residents who live above the store were evacuated after the flames broke out at about 1:30 a.m.

The Red Cross is offering them assistance.

It is not clear what sparked the flames.

As many as five fire departments responded to the inferno.

The flames were brought under control several hours later.
