Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a house fire that claimed the lives of a mother and adult son on Thursday evening.
Firefighters responded to 305 Martin Circle around 9:15 p.m. Assistant Chief Kyle Hendrix with the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department tells FOX 5 News that they found the house fully involved.
Crews found a man who was able to get outside. He told them that two others were inside. Firefighters attempted to do a rescue search, but could not reach them in time.
The victims were identified as 83-year-old Emmalou Dupree and 55-year-old Gregory Dupree.
Investigators are still searching for the cause, but believe the fire was an accident.
