Jet fuel mistakenly sold at NJ gas stations

MYFOXNY.COM -

There were multiple reports of cars stalling out and not being able to run after filling up at  N.J.  gas stations that was accidentally selling jet fuel instead of gasoline.

One of the affected locations was a Delta station at Rt. 36th Southbound and Broad St. in Keyport.

Police say that jet fuel was delivered to the station on Friday night.  It was also believed to have been delivered to another station in Manaquan, N.J.  Two stations in Hamilton and Lawrence also had aviation fuel delivered.

It unclear if the fuel was added to the regular, midgrade or premium tank.

Police shut at least one station down after receiving complaints.  The Monmouth County HazMat and Fire Departments responded to that incident.

They say there was no danger of car fires because of the fuel mix-up.

Several drivers complained about problems with their cars running after filling up at the station but the exact number of problems was unknown.

The police were asking anyone who fueled up at the dealer call them at 732-264-0706 and document the time they received the fuel and if they still have their receipt.
