Children In Need Get To 'Shop With A Cop' For Christmas

Posted: Updated:
West Covina, CA -

The West Covina Police Officers Association (WCPOA), in conjunction with the West Covina Police Department and the Target Store at The Heights will be hosting "Shop with a Cop" on Thursday, December 13, 2012. The WCPOA has selected 10 less fortunate local children to take Christmas shopping.

The children were pre-selected based on their needs and challenges this Christmas season.  Some of the children's parents lost their jobs earlier in the year while others are struggling to make ends meet.

Some of the requests on the children's wish lists include soap, shampoo, toothbrush, school supplies, and warm clothing. Each child will be allowed to pick out clothing and toys amounting to $300.

Target has agreed to pay the sales tax allowing the children to spend the entire $300. A West Covina Police Officer will be with each child as they shop assisting the children with their selections and helping to make the child's Christmas enjoyable.

This year the selected children will enjoy a surprise visit by Santa Claus who will be present during the event.
