PEORIA, Ariz. -

Thanks to a tip from the public, Peoria Police have identified a man believed to be responsible for a robbery attempt at Walgreens. However, his whereabouts are unknown.

Police say 44-year-old George Mendoza was captured on surveillance video inside the Walgreens store at 75th and Peoria Aves on Dec. 7.

He allegedly gave a note to the clerk demanding money from the register. The clerk became distraught and could not get the drawer open, and the suspect left the store without any money.

Mendoza is on parole for a previous armed robbery and has a felony warrant for a parole violation, according to Peoria Police. His last known address was a halfway house in Apache Junction. However, his current location is unknown.

Police say Mendoza got in the passenger side of a 2006 to 2009 4-door Kia Sorento, gray or silver in color, with a white sticker on the right side of the rear window.

Mendoza has a tear drop tattoo under his right eye and a large black star tattoo on left side along with another tattoo that spells Romona on the right side of his neck.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Peoria Police.
