It's the end of the Mayan Calendar on 12/21/12 but it's only the beginning of fun with Mar Yvette at Hotel Maya in Long Beach. Celebrating the new year and all things Mayan, the hotel's stunning indoor/outdoor restaurant Fuego will be the site of daylong festivities on Friday, December 21 starting at 9am.
Visitors can expect authentic Mayan dishes and entertainment, apocalyptic-themed drink specials and live Latin music. An official Mayan "end of the world" toast will be held at 3:11pm Pacific Standard Time, 11:11pm Greenwich Mean Time, to observe the official time the Mayan calendar ends.
There will also be once-in-a-lifetime raffle prizes include skydiving, paddle-boarding and sailing lessons, among others to be drawn throughout the day. A henna tattoo artist will provide free tattoos and you can have a free picture taken in a photo booth featuring backdrops of dream destinations from around the world.
