Police are searching for a man who attacked two women in the parking lot of a nursing home in Fayetteville.
Gloria Aultman said that the man came out of the woods and attacked her and her 82-year-old sister while they exchanged Christmas gifts on Dec. 21.
"He had his hands up in the air and he said, ‘Give it to me, give it to me, give it to me.' And it took me a second to realize I was in trouble," said Aultman.
The incident occurred in the visitor parking lot of the Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center on Brandywine Boulevard. Fayetteville police said the area is usually crime-free.
"The vest word I can put on this is bizarre. This is a very safe facility, a very safe area. We've never had anything like this in this particular area of Fayetteville," said Mike Whitlow of the Fayetteville Police Department.
Police found a stolen lawn chair in the woods.
"Again, just bizarre. You take a lawn chair and bring it down here to sit in," said Whitlow.
Gloria says she fought with the man, who knocked her down several times. Her biggest fear was for her 82-year old sister.
"You know I love everybody and that's one of my problems is I am too nice to everybody. But at that moment I could have hurt him...I would have hurt him. I would have done anything to save mine and my sister's lives," said Aultman.
Authorities said that they recovered Aultman's car in Lanette, Ala., located about 70 miles from the nursing home. Valuables, including cell phones and gift cards were still inside. Police are not sure why the car was stolen.
Anyone with information on the crime is urged to contact the Fayetteville Police Department at (770) 461-4441.
