LANSING, Mich. (WJBK) -- Other first ladies in Michigan were close political advisors for their governor husbands, but certainly not Sue Snyder. That's not her job, she said.

While she is his number one supporter, he does the policy stuff and she simply watches. Her job is to tend to the home fires, to be the caretaker-in-chief of the family's three children and her husband. The first lady has zero political ambition.

For example, while others wanted to be in Miami at the National Republican Convention, it was daughter Kelsey who stood next to the governor when Mitt Romney was nominated by the Michigan delegation. So why didn't the first lady want to go?

"To be frank, I didn't want to be in Florida in August," she told me during a WKAR public TV interview.

Well, if she didn't want to go to the convention, did she watch Ann Romney and Michele Obama give their speeches. Oh yeah, she watched, and here are here thoughts on a spouse speaking for their husband.

"I don't feel like I need to speak for him," she said. "I just didn't think it was appropriate because we're not electing them, we're electing the men."

What about this story? The Romney campaign floated Rick Snyder's name as a possible running mate. Sue Snyder said nope.

"Absolutely not. If anything president, but I'm not looking at that, either," she said. "We're getting older. The kids are getting older, and I just really want to enjoy time with my husband and my family and eventually grand kids."

Well, if that was the case, why didn't the governor deny the rumors and kill the story and move on. Turns out there was a hidden agenda. The governor wanted to milk the story to generate some positive vibes for the state. He confessed to that for the first time.

"If you look at it as good marketing for the state of Michigan... I believe in promoting the state of Michigan because we're the comeback state," he said.

And the first lady wanted him to come back home every night and have nothing to do with Washington, and on this one she won.
