Jogger assaulted in East River Park

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The NYPD is hunting for a thug who tried to rape a jogger in Manhattan's East River Park.

It happened at about 11:45 a.m. Thursday near Delancey St. and FDR Drive.

The woman was jogging inside the park when she said a man came up behind her and threw her to the ground.  The man then attempted to rip her clothes off and rape her.

She started screaming and the man ran away.  The woman was taken to Beth Israel Hospital with some scrapes but was not seriously hurt.

Police say the only description they have on the suspect was that he was a black man who appeared to be in his late 20s.
