Mill Avenue to host free New Year's Eve event without bowl game sponsor

TEMPE, Ariz. -

For the first time in decades, Mill Avenue will host a free New Year's Eve event open to the public on Monday.

In past years, Mill Avenue partnered with the Fiesta Bowl for a huge block party that required each person to purchase a ticket to enter.

Mill Avenue will ring in 2013 with a free, more family-friendly celebration, in addition to its numerous bars open for 21+.

If you're looking to bring the kids, Radio Disney's Rockin' Road Show will bring music, fun and games to the Family Fun Zone on 7th Street.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., professionally trained Disney staff will provide entertainment for both kids and parents. Kids can also play on game trucks, a round of laser tag or climb into bounce houses.

Live music from dance-pop duo S.O.S. begins at 9:30 p.m. and Folk-pop band, Jared & The Mill, begins at 11 p.m. and will continue through the countdown to midnight.

Fireworks shows  start at 9 p.m., allowing kids and families to watch them early, and at 12 a.m. to officially celebrate the strike of midnight in Arizona.

For the 21 and over crowd, Mill Avenue's bars and clubs will have their own NYE cover charges.

Bars and clubs with planned parties are: Rula Bula's New Year's Eve Party, New Year's Eve at the Rooftop Lounge, Canteen, Handle Bar, & Fat Tuesday New Year Celebration, Robbie Fox's Public House New Year's Party, Vintage Lounge & Grill's New Year's Eve and Mill Cue Club New Year's Eve.
