NJ experiences mixed precipitation from storm

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Areas west and north of New York City will see the largest snowfall amounts.

New Jersey has seen some mixed precipitation Saturday.

It's more like a freezing rain than snow that's coming down and it's cold, very cold and the roads are slick so if you have to be outside drive very carefully.

Winter has officially arrived in Essex County, New Jersey. Backyards look like winter wonderlands. Cars are covered in snow and streets are slick and slippery but passable thanks to snow plows.

At Brookdale Park, frosty the snowman was already up and greeting folks. Kids eagerly went sledding and enjoyed the snow, but many adults are already dreading this winter.

Not everyone dislikes this winter weather. Many drivers say simple common sense will keep you safe.

And as the day wore on and temps dropped, many people Fox 5 spoke to were only out to grab some food and head home for the night.

Forecasters say this storm dumped about two inches of snow in Northern New Jersey. Most of New Jersey will see a freezing rain. The good news is that most of this should end sometime tonight.
