Police are looking for the gunman in a parking lot shooting at Southlake Mall in Morrow on Monday.
Investigators say the shooter approached the victim outside the food court around 12:30 p.m. When the victim ran, he was shot at least one time. Officers say when they got to the scene, the injured man talked with them.
"Their security folks were some of the first ones on the scene that rendered aid until we arrived," said Morrow Police Chief Chris Leighty. "We actually got his name from him, so he was able to talk to us."
An ambulance took the man to Grady Hospital. Officers believe at least one bullet hit him. Witnesses say a man with dreadlocks pulled out a gun and shot the victim before taking off.
"There were several casings on the ground, so I don't know how many times he was actually shot," said Leighty.
Police say the suspect was last seen leaving the mall. They're now looking for a white, four-door sedan.
"Our folks are up there working the crime scene at this time, talking with witnesses so hopefully we'll be able to identify who is responsible for this crime," said Leighty.
Morrow police ask anyone who saw anything to give them a call.
