Giant Squid or Humboldt Squid ( scientific name ) have been showing up off the Dana Point/ San Clemente coast line these last few nights, although these are the 3-5lb variety we have been known to catch them up to 20-25lbs.
The last GIANT SQUID run was in Sept. 2011, we will just have to see what happens next.
Dana Wharf Sportfishing ran a trip last night with Captain Brian Woolley at the helm of the vessel SUM FUN he said that the squid appeared 3-4 miles from the harbor about 2 miles off the beach, they were there but it was really cold and windy we caught about 12 SQUID and then headed in!" Trips leave nightly until further notice at 5:30pm for $25.00.
