New cellulite removal procedure performed in Scottsdale

Posted: Updated:

One valley doctor is performing a new medical procedure that people used to have to travel out of state to get.

It's a laser procedure that supposedly helps people get that desired, smooth look.

Scottsdale plastic surgeon Dr. Daniel Shapiro and his patient Breauna Hatecke chatted in a surgical room, but there was no operation.

Instead, he performed a laser procedure called Cellulaze, a new answer to every woman's woe: cellulite.

"I told my husband, 'I got to get this done.' I can't believe they have an actual procedure for this," said Hatecke.

From supermodel to celebrity to the average woman, cellulite is a challenge.

"It doesn't matter if you're thin or heavy, almost everyone has cellulite," said Shapiro.

"It's always bothered me since probably my twenties. It affects what I wear and everything," said Hatecke.

Hatecke tried other cellulite removal products but they fell flat.

Cellulaze is a break through in medical technology.

It's a quick, non invasive procedure where the patient stays awake. Shapiro makes a couple of slight incisions and puts a laser wand beneath the skin's service to erase dimples and bulges permanently.

"It's certainly phenomenal in my eyes, and their eyes," said Shapiro.

Shapiro is the only surgeon in the state able to perform the procedure and FOX 10 is the first news crew in the valley to observe one.

First Hatecke's legs were marked, she was given some numbing medicine and then the procedure began.

"Nothing up until now has been a long lasting result," said Shapiro.

The procedure is costly, starting around $5000, but the results for this working mother of two are priceless.

"More confident yes, for sure. Wear a bathing suit and not be covering up and confident for sure," said Hatecke.

It took ten years for doctors to develop the procedure.
