Stricter rules in place for some Target gift returns

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

If you got a holiday gift from Target, and are looking to return it, their return policy has changed. It's stricter now when it comes to certain purchases.

If you received an electronics gift for Christmas, you only have a few weeks left to return it to Target. Looking at the front and back of the receipt, you will see "90 days for a refund or exchange." But if you read on, it says "some items…have less than 90 days."

According to Target's Web site those items are electronics like computers, tablets, cameras, videogames and no-contract cell phones.  The expiration date for those - which is only 30 days now -  is on the front of the receipt.

If the gift was purchased between Nov. 1 - Dec. 25, the 30-day return period started December 26. If you want to return it, you better get to it.

This stricter return policy started in September.  It might not be a bad idea to double check your receipt for the return-by deadline.
