A 16 year old student armed with a shotgun walked into his first period science class and opened fire. This chaotic scene happening at a high school in Taft, about 40 miles southwest of Bakersfield. One student is hit by gunfire. A teacher and a school staff worker quickly talk the shooter into surrendering.
The Kern County Sheriff says the student turned shooter felt as though he had been bullied at the school.
The gunman said to have had two targets, supposedly the students who were bullying him. He hit one targeted student and shot at and missed a second student. The student hit by gunfire is in critical but stable condition. Three others are injured, including a student who may have suffered hearing damage after being too close to the shotgun blast when it was fired.
