After months of pre-season hype, three new judges, a much publicized fight between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj and a seven city search, American Idol Season 12 is finally here.
The first stop, New York City, where months ago the freshman judges met the press before seeing and hearing contestants.
Although the show's objective is to focus on singers most of the attention has been diverted to the judges.
And while fans can expect wild, weird and off-key during the early rounds they will also see some colorful exchanges between the judges.
