DETROIT (WJBK) -- "She said she has $7,000 to buy a vehicle, and what she saw, it was more money. So she didn't have all the money. So we said would you like to finance. She [said] yes," explained Mary Colon.
The woman, who was alone, said she fell in love with a silver 2007 Dodge Magnum. The C&M Auto Sales price was $14,900. They write loans there, but you should have a driver's license.
"So we [were] trying to put her in the system. We asked for her ID, [driver's] license. She [said] she doesn't have [one], that she wants to finance this car under her dad's name. She [went] outside to call her dad to ask for [his] Social Security [number]," said Colon.
The woman claimed she was on the cell phone with dad. She stepped outside. While Colon fired up the computer to run dad's info, her son, Danny, pulled the beautiful Dodge Magnum out to warm it up and show off the clean ride.
Video shows as Danny pulled the car out, the woman followed behind the Magnum with her cell phone to her left ear. With the Magnum running on the sidewalk, Danny returned to the office to tell mom the car was all ready to go, but instead of going into the office, the woman slipped behind the wheel and drove the Magnum off.
"She didn't look... suspicious. She looked like she really want the car," Colon said.
They said they had never seen her before. She is described as a black female about 5'6" tall and weighing around 180 pounds. She was wearing a gray hoodie and all black pants.
"It's hard because you have insurance and you have to make an insurance claim and that's going to hurt you. I just want the car back."
Detroit Police responded. They are looking for the vehicle. The Michigan dealer license plate number is 42 D 419.
C&M Auto Sales is located on Livernois near Michigan Avenue in southwest Detroit.
