Police arrested a 20-year-old and two teenaged males Thursday in the killing of Hemet teen Eric Sargeant.
Eric, a 16-year-old Hemet High sophomore, was stabbed repeatedly around 4:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, near Acacia Avenue and Cherrywood Drive in an unincorporated section of Hemet and he died later that day in the hospital.
Francisco Zavala, 20, was booked into Southwest Detention Center in French Valley on suspicion of murder, according to jail records. His bail has been set at $1 million.
The other two suspects are juvenile males, ages 15 and 17, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. They were booked into Juvenile Hall on murder charges.
Funeral services for Eric are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19, at Hemet Church of the Nazarene, on Florida Avenue and Soboba Street in Valle Vista. Viewing is from 9 to 11 a.m. and the service is scheduled for 11. The service is open to the public.
