Attempted Kidnapping Near Elementary School

Posted: Updated:

Kidnapping by ice cream! Sort of. Monday a 7 year old boy walked out of Newhope Elementary School in Santa Ana. He walked down the street toward Kent Ave. Unbeknownst to him two women were waiting in a minivan to steal him away.

Police say when the boy got to the 4500 Kent Avenue the passenger in the gold colored mini van told him she had ice cream for him in the van. He came over. Police say that's when the driver said to 'get him in here.' The boy ran .. the two women took off. Scary stuff!

Descriptions: the van, gold in color, is believed to be a model from 2000-to-2007, but the actual make and model are not known.

The driver is described as having a heavy buil, 30 to 40 years of age, heavy build, wrinkles on her face and a long brown ponytail. The passenger is about 40 years old with a medium build, olive complexion, short brown wavy hair and having many freckles or moles on her face. Both are hispanic and spanish speaking.

I met the folks from Gunnar Optiks at CES this year and they had something new to show me. The Intercepts. I have a big head, these are big frames, it was kismet but do they work as good as they look? We'll see.
