Falcons fever spreads as big game nears

Falcons fever is sweeping all across Atlanta as the NFC Championship gets closer.

Edward Long hopes his song, "Da Dirty Bird," will become the official Falcons song. Long said that his song has the blessing of former Falcon Jamal Anderson, who is credited for originating the "Dirty Bird Dance" back in 1998.

"I told what we had in mind; he said, ‘Go for it,'" said Long.

Members of the Jonesboro's Tara Baptist Church joined Long for a performance of the song at Centennial Park on Friday. The song was so infectious that FOX 5's George Franco even joined in the dance. (CLICK THE VIDEO ABOVE TO SEE HOW GEORGE DID)

Over at the Georgia Dome, the finishing touches were applied on the field for the sold out NFC Championship Game between the Falcons and the San Francisco 49ers. While the Falcons have made it to the game before, this will mark the first time they played it at home.

Leah Malstrom's Douglasville family pulled the first RV into the Dome parking lot for the big game. Inside, her dog Lucy sported the Falcons' red and black colors on her nails.

Fans hope the Super Bowl dream becomes a reality after Sunday's game.
