The family of a mother killed in a hit-and-run accident in Cartersville is pleading for anyone with information to come forward.
Christina Mae Warner, a 27-year-old mother of two, was struck and killed on Jan. 15 as she walked alongside Ga. Highway 41 at Mac Johnson Road.
Georgia State Patrol is investigating the case and says that she was hit by two vehicles that morning. They say the first vehicle was a dark blue sedan and say the car hit her and then kept going.
Elissa Cochran, Christina's mother, is asking the driver responsible to come forward.
"You know you hit something either way. Just come forward. Make a phone call," said Elissa Cochran.
Christina Warner had been in the Army for three years, serving as military police until being honorably discharged for health reasons in November.
Warner's sister, Heather Veitch, said she's upset that the driver has not been caught.
"Somebody hit her and they kept driving like they had not hit anything, and so I am angry. I'm angry because I feel like not enough is being done to find out who killed her," said Veitch.
The tragedy is the second to befell the family in the last year; Christina's brother Christopher died last August from complications of kidney failure.
"Losing a child either way is horrible. And then, losing her in the way that it was done – I'm just distraught," said Cochran.
The family told FOX 5 that they will never know why Christina was out at 1 a.m. that day, but at the very least they hope to get closure so she can rest in peace.
"We had just got my sister back and then someone else takes her from us. We just want to know what happened that night. We have so many questions.," said Veitch.
CrimeStoppers has offered a reward. Anyone with information is urged to call 404-577-TIPS (8477).
