Red Sky in Morning, Sailors Take Warning!

Posted: Updated:

You guys have heard that one before, right? Here in southern California it does not always work out that way (a big storm after a red morning sky). But the spectacular sunrise this morning across our city (see video) is a sign of changes coming.

The clouds are the leading edge of a weather system that could bring us sprinkles or light showers as early as tonight. Showers are possible in some areas at times tomorrow into Monday.

The beautiful red sky that we saw this morning was caused by the scattering of sunlight by the clouds and particulate matter in the atmosphere. The sunset yesterday evening was just as nice.

Check out the photo taken at the Redondo Beach Pier by my buddy Ron Dinnel. We were passing the pier on our evening run and had to make a quick pit stop with the birds!

Happy Sky Watching Everyone!
