A FOX 11 EXCLUSIVE: BUSTED! It was around 6am when agents from the DEA kicked in the door of a home in the 12,700 block of Darla Avenue. When they did the whole frame fell apart.
Inside they found three rooms filled with marijuana according to information we've been able to gather. DEA is not commenting. That's because this involved a federal warrant sealed by a judge. But, here is what we know. When agents went inside they cut and boxed the plants. They threw the 11 boxes in the back of a pickup truck to cart off to a processing facility to destroy. On the sides of the cardboard boxes the words "DEA EVIDENCE."
Neighbors were surprised. One told me she rarely ever saw anyone there, and it's scary to find out she was living next to a "grow house." Another said it was unfortunate because this is a nice neighborhood.
As we talked the smell of pot was heavy in the air. In fact, we could smell it as we drove up the Granada Hills street in our news van.
As of this writing no one has been arrested. Often, though, in these cases "grow houses" are simply nurseries. A place to farm the crop. Caretakers showing up every once in a while to take care of it. Now, though, this house is closed for business!
