Mayor of Sea Bright on challenges to returning home

Posted: Updated:
MYFOXNY.COM -

The mayor of Sea Bright, New Jersey talks about the impact new federal flood guidelines will have on the town's residents hoping to rebuild following the destruction caused by superstorm Sandy.

The maps establish new standards for rebuilding along the Jersey Shore. They show a higher risk of flooding in some areas than the old maps did and establish tougher guidelines for rebuilding, including in some places higher elevations.

"People desperately want to come home. About 1/5 are home right now. What' holding most up is waiting on settlements from our insurance companies. If we want to live here we have to rebuild in a sustainable way and we have to figure out how to pay for that," said Dina Long.

At least a dozen scathing reviews were printed about Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s new book on a preservative used in vaccines before it was released. It's not fair, says Kennedy Jr., and he explained why during Good Day New York. "They attacked me for what they believed was going to be in the book which was a discussion about autism and that is not in the book," said Kennedy Jr.
