Santa Ana, CA -
Santa Ana Police say a man who sexually assaulted a 55-year-old woman in front of her home on Sunday evening was pretty bold.
Police describe the suspect as 15 to 20 years old, thin, about 5'5" to 5'7" and having a long black pony tail. He also has acne marks on his face.
Santa Ana Police Corporal Anthony Bertagna says the North Santa Ana woman was returning home when this happened. Imagine the shock: She gets out of her car, the suspect gets behind her and he asks for the time. She turns around and, before she can respond, he hits her in the face, pushes her down onto the car seat and starts sexually assaulting her.
She was able to get her hand away and hit the horn. She screamed her daughter's name. The daughter, who is 25 and bigger than the suspect, came out of the house and ran toward the car. The suspect ran off and she gave chase for about a half a mile. He got away in the area around 15th and Ross.
There's a skateboard park near there. Because the suspect had a skateboard police think he might frequent that area. They want to find him because they worry he could attack again and it could be worse next time.
Police are telling the public that trying to take down a suspect isn't a great idea because they might have a weapon. It's better, says Bertagna, to grab the cell phone, call the police, follow, let the police try to get him so you can be a good witness.
