The National Weather Service in Detroit and Pontiac has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow and ice, creating potentially hazardous conditions.

The advisory goes into effect at 7 p.m., and will last until 6 a.m. Monday.

After 7 p.m., precipitation will spread northward across the area.

We'll first see snow, then a change that will produce a mix of snow and freezing rain after midnight.

Air temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by 4 a.m., which will support another change to rain.

Ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch are possibly, mainly on elevated surfaces.

Snowfall accumulations of 1-2 inches will be possible.

Road surfaces that go untreated could become snow covered, creating slippery conditions during the evening and overnight hours.

The strongest thunderstorms, those with very powerful updrafts, can produce very large hail -- the kind that can dent cars or aluminum siding and damage a roof or destroy farmers' crops.
